our whole universe was in a hot dense state . . .

so i just got done watching the first episode of the second season of TBBT (as i have literally just now decided to label it) and it is better than the first. i love it. i believe there has not been a greater time in all of human history to be a nerd/geek. with all the comic book related movies,tv, and more. it just seems to be getting better and better.

which leads me to believe the end days are actually here, remember your food storage :)

ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew

i dare you to watch the whole thing with out looking away. . .cuz i certainly cant

I <3 string theory/quantum physics

i finally get some things i've never understood before, this is much better than trying to read some of those crazy wikipedia entries. i am especially fond of their reasoning of why we see time in a linear line. also the theory that the subatomic particles that make up everything are somewhat "created" (or collapsed from probability fields) by the simple act of observation, makes me think of ABRAHAM 4:18 "and the Gods watched those things which they had ordered(speaking about the creation)until they obeyed"

crazy science is fun :)

first time for everything

this is probably the FIRST tattoo i have ever looked at and then thought, "wow i would totally get that" now of course we all know i would never get one, but it got me thinking. so what would you get if you were to get a tattoo?

Lee’s hand shook as he filled the delicate cups. He drank his down in one gulp. “Don’t you see?” he cried. “The American Standard translation orders men to triumph over sin, and you can call sin ignorance. The King James translation makes a promise in ‘Thou shalt,’ meaning that men will surely triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word, the word timshel—’Thou mayest’— that gives a choice. It might be the most important word in the world. That says the way is open. That throws it right back on a man. For if ‘Thou mayest’—it is also true that ‘Thou mayest not.’ Don’t you see?”

i seem to laugh a lot when it is really inappropriate to do so

FACT:

our instructor told us a story of a drunk girl breaking her leg and her drunk friends took her to the hospital with her leg submerged in an ice-chest, turns out she got frost bite and had to amputate that leg.

the absolute best.

alright *spoiler alert* this is going to get sappy

i would just like to say that i have the best parents in the world. Particularly my Dad. just this weekend i picked up a car that he was fixing for me and he went completely above and beyond. He fixed EVERYTHING. tires, the seats, the engine (seals, hoses, took it basically apart and put it back together) he even cleaned and washed it, and made an appointment for it to be re-painted. How do i live up to that? How do i fill those shoes? i have no skill whatsoever for helping him or my own family out like that. so basically this is just to let all of you know that i have an amazing father who drops everything to help me whenever i need it. i don't deserve that i know, but hopefully ill be able to pay him back sometime in someway.

LOVE you dad!!

HP6 baybay!!!

im sure if you look around you can find one with better quality, but this was the best i could do on Youtube. I highly recommend you find the high quality though, its amazing. and i a so geek-excited!

DRAT DRAT DRAT DRAT, dadgum "R" rating!!!

gonna pull a bruce banner . . .

some pictures i have recently stumbled upon . . .

(edited for your virgin eyes, but im sure you can figure it out)

(found on a "no-on-prop8" website)

i know i said i was done being frustrated, but come on! i can't be the only one that is a little freaked out by this right? they are rallying for people to HATE us. lighting books of mormon on fire in front of churches???

ok the music in the this one is a little much, but really. . .how is this type of behavior acceptable? spray painting "no on prop 8" on a church sign? how does that help your cause? we have become the villains, the people they need to "overcome" in order to get what they want. And they will get what they want by any means necessary. that includes scare tactics, which these clearly are.

its just frustrating, sorry im done, until i find more to rant about of course. blahgrahlasgjfpodkngfadk!!!!

awesome kids from youtube

i have a fear that when i have children they are going to be as boring as i am. . .these are the kind of kids i want

i can kill you with my brain

so i woke up not being able to go back to sleep so i thought id give you all something to do today, . . . somehow obtain the series FIREFLY and then watch it. i promise you it will be the best space opera/western you will ever watch. Joss Whedon (the creator) pitched it as "nine people looking into the blackness of space and seeing nine different things".

and for your enjoyment here is a clip :)

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

thought for the day

its easy to see that ive been a little frustrated and a little obsessed with this whole "its the mormon's fault" thing surrounding the backlash of prop 8/102/whatever. well I've also been listening/reading/watching some talks from the most recent conference, (im specifically talking about Henry B's here )and ive come to the conclusion that i need to have a better attitude, instead of finding the negative and the things that drive us apart, i should be searching for the things we have in commmon. that does not mean i am for banning prop 8, it just means i understand where they are coming from. i'm sure it was a huge blow to the gay community and i can see why they are so upset. the hand of fellowship could do so much more in this time of moral crisis than the hand of "you are wrong and this is why". i guess i just need to figure out exactly how to extend that hand

anyway here's a inappropriate video cuz im getting too serious :)

tolerant and open-mided opinions shared at the LA temple

just a few clips from a protest that happened a few days ago at the L.A. temple, if you'd like to see more, youtube is full of it.

If several hundred members of the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints marched up to a meeting place for homosexual people and began shouting "shame on you" and flipping the bird (which is the least offensive thing ive seen, seriously look it up) i guarantee it would be labeled as a hate crime, or at least we'd be labeled as a hateful organization. So why is it okay that these people do this? why is tolerance one sided? i for one am tired of defending my stance on moral issues only to be looked at as some backwards redneck closed-minded bigot. this is not a civil rights issue, it is a moral issue.

Let me explain

Massachusetts a state famous for its 2003 decision to issue and allow same-sex marriage via the state's supreme court, would like you to believe that they do not discriminate against people of a different sexual orientation. this however is false. under Massachusetts state law a person engaging in "sexual activities" with relatives closer than first cousins can spend up to 20 years in jail, thats just sexual activities, they are not even trying to get married. can you imagine if we put people in jail just for engaging is homosexual activities? the country would be in an uproar screaming "equality" and "civil rights".

Civil Rights : Civil and political rights are a class of rights ensuring things such as the protection of peoples' physical integrity; procedural fairness in law; protection from discrimination based on gender, religion, race, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, etc; individual freedom of belief, speech, association, and the press; and political participation.
(got this from wikipedia)

So did you notice that fun little part that read "protection from discrimination based on . . .sexual orientation". We'll if you believe that then you must also believe that ANY OTHER sexual orientation including a incestuous relationship should be under the protection of the above mentioned civil rights. but its not, otherwise there could not be a law against it. so why does the state of massachusetts have a law in their (oh so open minded) state that sends people with a different sexual orientation other than the "norm" to jail? because the people of that state deem that sexual act MORALLY wrong. The only reason same-sex relationships and marriages are claiming civil rights is because enough people in their respective states and in this country have deemed homosexuality (at the least) morally okay, or (at the most) morally correct.

homosexuality (from practice to marriage) is a moral issue. not one dealing with civil rights.

Please please please do not misunderstand me, i do not intend to imply that homosexuals should be sent to prison, nor that they should be looked down upon with disdain or malice. They are literally our family, our brothers and sisters, those we as members of the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints have promised to love and comfort. We are all equally important to our father in heaven regardless of our flaws (which we all have). i honestly do not view myself as any better than one person or another. We should all strive to be as the savior, teaching with love and kindness, and most importantly being examples of the meaning of the gospel and its plan, happiness (and hating or belittling others does not bring happiness)

My only intent is to express my distaste for those who would yell and rage at me because i, as a member of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints, have taken away their "civil rights". i do not believe that this is the case, and although you have the right to your opinion, you do not have the right to scream hurtful and terrible accusations at a place of worship. you do not have the right to deface that same place of worship (some protesters wrote things like "mormon pigs" on the walls they were lined up against). and you most certainly do not have the right to claim that you are the only tolerant and open minded people in this country, that all other opinions other than your own are stupid and uneducated.

i honestly hope i have not offended anyone with this little rant, its just something that has been weighing on me for a little while and i figured getting it off my chest and writing it down might help clear my thoughts and maybe crystallize them a bit

holy crap its five in the morning :(

another thought

so today i was thinking about H.G. Wells' "the time machine" and in it the scientist that invents the time machine outlines that (this is from memory and i read it some time ago so forgive me if i'm incorrect)time is a dimension much like the three dimensions that make up space (length, width, depth) and just as we create things that move us through those three above mentioned planes or dimensions (i.e. cars, planes, elevators) he figured we could make a machine that could take us back and forth through the 4th dimension, time. and thats exactly what the protagonist of the book does. but (hang with me, i know you're probably skipping all this) he creates a machine that goes through ONLY the fourth dimension, which would never work because such a machine would stay stagnant in space and since we are always moving through space (earth rotates on axis, earth orbits sun, sun orbits in outer spiral arm of galaxy, galaxy orbits around super dense black hole, black whole orbits around kolob . . .kidding!) then the machine would be left behind as the earth and everything around it orbited in its celestial rounds. . . so ya i was just thinking about that today.

take that science fiction!

thoughts for today

i found this picture on www.postsecret.blogspot.com, a website where people anonymously send in there secrets, some are silly others are very honest and show a great deal of true self analysis. which is really comforting in a way. when i found this picture it made me realize that i need to stop having such a negative attitude about church and actually appreciate the comfort and peace it is intended to provide. whoever sent this in, you'll more than likely never read this, but thank you.

Ramblings

So upon further inspection of all the blogs i have recently discovered I've realized that people actually update others with information on whats going on in their life's, so i guess i'll try that.

Been married for about a year and a half to the beautiful Careena Marie.

this is my favorite picture from our wedding

so ya life has been a blast, she works for LARRYJOHNWRIGHT and advertising agency, and she is taking some classes at MCC this semester. I on the other hand am lazy and didnt sign up in time to get the class i need so ill be taking a break this semester. i am currently working as a floor manager for ATOMIC COMICS in mesa, on southern and countryclub, you should drop by and see me some time. (ask for logan) Anyway we dont have any kids yet, but we have an awesome cat named Battlecat! Hes ferocious. and he's about all the kid we need for the moment.

We are living here in mesa arizona, (dont worry i have a mexican flag air freshener in my car, so we're safe) and we love it. . . .and this is currently my favorite picture (it changes hourly)

I'm currently attempting to acquire a position in a hospital to try to get some medical experience, because im not sure if i want to go into the nursing field or a career in Radiology. Well to be more precise (and more honest) i really dont know what i want to do at all, but the medical field seems to be what im leaning towards now. anyway thats all i have right now but im sure ill think of more to add.

chronicles of loss and grief

When i read C. S. Lewis' "A Grief Observed" i started writing down some of the statements and questions within. It's such a brutally honest journal of loss and emotion i could not help but record some of his more profound realizations and queries. Here are a few i loved.

"It is hard to have patience with people who say 'there is no death' or 'death doesn't mater.' There is death. And whatever is matters. And whatever happens has consequence, and it and they are irrevocable and irreversible. You might as well say that birth doesn't matter. I look up at the night sky. Is anything more certain than in all those vast times and spaces, if i were allowed to search them, i should nowhere find her face, her voice, her touch? she died. she is dead. is the word so difficult to learn?"

"It doesn't really matter whether you grip the arms of the dentist's chair or let your hands lie in your lap. The drill drills on."

"They call Stephen the first martyr. Hadn't Lazarus the rawer deal?"

"what do people mean when they say 'i am not afraid of god because i know he is good'? Have they never even been to a dentist?"

"God has not been trying an experiment on my faith or love in order to find their quality. He know it already. It was i who didn't. . . he always knew that my temple was a house of cards. His only way of making me realize the fact was the knock it down."

"You never know how much you really believe anything until its truth or falsehood becomes a matter of life and death to you. . . apparently the faith - i thought it faith - which enables me to pray for the other dead has seemed strong only because i have never really cared, not desperately, whether they existed or not. yet i thought i did."

"As i have discovered passionate grief does not link us with the dead but cuts us off from them."

"Five senses; an incurably abstract intellect; a haphazardly selective memory; a set of preconceptions and assumptions so numerous that i can never examine more than a minority of them - never become even conscious of them all. how much of total reality can such an apparatus let through?"

the most amazing movie i probably wont be watching

ok everyone (as if anybody reads this) go watch the trailer to the movie "watchmen"

here --http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4blSrZvPhU

then go read how awesome it is

here --http://www.empireonline.com/trailer/breakdown/watchmen/

it looks like people are finally being smart about turning a graphic novel into a movie, no more of this creative license crap, just make it look like the book! that's all we want, sure some things have to be changed in order to fit it to the film medium but wow this looks dead on.

irreverent things make me laugh

entertainment epidemic

replaying recent events in my noggin ive stumbled onto the fact that i am a "movie quote bandit" now some of you out there might me unfamiliar with the above mentioned term, most likely because i have just successfully coined it. . .

mov·ie-quote-ban·dit [moovee kwot bandit ] (noun) – an individual that upon hearing the beginning or introduction of a quote from a number of entertainment sources (i.e. movies, music, literature, tv shows, pop culture, etc. . . ) feels the need to continue the quote regardless of who initially spoke. It also can describe a person who feels the need to correct and individual if they have misquoted a particular quote and or lyric.
See also- Quote snob, Know-it- all.

a great big sorry to those who ive affected. im looking into some medication that will help with my condition, until then your prayers are greatly apprciated
